Well I am sure all of you have heard by now that Microsoft officially announced windows phone 8! today,  yes! the long awaited update to window phone 7.5 has be announced, but for the few of you that didn’t know let me run through some of the new features that will come in wp8,

First you can now have more info on your start screen thanks to the new and improved start screen UI, you can now have three sizes of tiles, small, medium and large, this gives users the ability to customize their windows phone device even more and before. Staying on the start screen there are also new theme colours (over 10 new ones) to pick from including white! (nice)

Next there will be multi-core support, yes! that’s right Qualcomm snapdragon S4 plus processors will be used to power the new wp8 OS, but  it’s not like it’s really needed, because to this day wp 7.5 still smokes anything that comes up against when it comes to speed but I guess it will help with the opening of apps plus it does look a little nicer on the spec sheets

Few other big thing for me that comes with wp8 are: Windows Phone 8 will now support three new resolutions: WVGA, WXGA, and 720p, there is support for External Storage on SD card and IE10 (I love the mobile version of IE)

Cool little things like Nfc, Skype & VoIP integration, A wallet app, C++ native code (so wp8 should have better games) and nokia maps for all window phone 8 devices are also here

Now! with all that good news, here is the bad news, windows phone 7.5 owners will NOT be getting the windows phone 8 update it’s not all bad wp 7.5 users will get new start screen and some of the software features that come with wp8 in an update called wp7.8, So if you had plans on buying a lumia device you should just wait until wp8 comes out. (like me!)

Other bad new include: there is still no word on a File Manger, nor bluetooth sharing, Multitasking is said to be improved but no word on if it’s full true Multitasking like on the n9 or and improved version of wp7.5 multitasking. read more that here….
